A chiropractor — or doctor of chiropractic — is a health care professional trained to diagnose, manage, and treat musculoskeletal problems. Chiropractors use a variety of hands-on treatments and therapies to address pain and physical dysfunction associated with injuries caused by wear and tear, overuse, trauma from car accidents and workplace injuries, and sports injuries.
Chiropractors do not use drugs or surgery and can help you recover from pain and injuries without invasive procedures or long-term prescription medications.
Chiropractors use different hands-on treatments to reduce pain and inflammation and restore function to your joints and muscles. Common therapies and treatments that Dr. Buberman provides include:
The type of treatment you receive is determined by your diagnosis, the severity of your pain, and what other treatments you’ve tried for your condition in the past. Dr. Buberman delivers patient-centered cars and works with you through your course of treatment to ensure you’re comfortable with the care you receive and that it’s effective at relieving your pain.
A chiropractic adjustment is one of the most common types of treatments that chiropractors provide. If Dr. Buberman recommends an adjustment to decrease your pain and improve the function and mobility of your joints, he begins by having you lie on a comfortable padded table either face up, face down, or on your side. He positions you appropriately and then places his hands over the joint that needs adjustment.
Dr. Buberman then applies a quick force with his hands, reducing the restriction within the joint and improving the joints range of motion. The adjustment takes less than a minute, and you may hear or feel a popping or cracking sound when it’s performed. This sound comes from naturally-occurring carbon dioxide gas within the joint that is released when your joint is adjusted.
In most cases, patients experience an immediate increase in their range of motion after an adjustment. You may also notice less pain right away or feel more relaxed or “loose.”
